Unit History
The idea for a KG unit came about in 1999 by Ray Coach. Ray asked "why should we limit our impressions to just one unit or division? We could assemble a bigger unit if individuals had more flexibility with their impressions.” After much debate with other units we felt it was time that we should pool our resources of the local German units in Colorado and Wyoming. We decided that our unit should have: One Officer to be our unit voice with other German units and with event organizers, One Spiess to watch over the training and second in command of the unit, and one NCO
for each branch of service with them being the SS, Heer, and Fallshirmjaegers. At the time, these ideas were considered new and even revolutionary. We also originally only had two main rules; they are to get along with each other and do your impression at 100%. So in 2001 with a unanimous vote, The Colorado Kampfgruppe was born. Unfortunately one of the unit founders, Mark Rybus, passed away we officially changed our name to Kampfgruppe von Rybus to honor him for his hard work and dedication to the forming of our unit.
